Compared to traditional air-dry nail polish, gel polish offers a longer wear time of up to 21 days with proper application. Moreover, gel nail polish requires the use of a UV or LED lamp for curing, which is much faster than air drying, allowing you to quickly move on with your day without worrying about smudges.

Prepare your nails

  • Gently push back your cuticles with the cuticle pusher
  • Remove the dead skin
  • Use a file to shape your nails
  • Gently buff your nails with a nail buffer to remove the shine from the nail plate
  • Clean your nails with a lint-free nail wipe and gel cleanser. Make sure no oil or residue on your nails.

Apply the base coat

  • Apply a thin layer of base coat over your nails including their free edges. Keep a distance of about one millimeter between the gel and the cuticles.
  • Cure under the nail lamp. Make sure no gel on your skin before curing. Curing times vary per different light systems and lamp brands. Usually, 90-120 seconds with a UV lamp and 60 seconds with a LED lamp.

Apply the color coat

  • Apply a thin layer of color coat over your nails with a distance of about one millimeter from the cuticles. Apply the gel polish to the edge of the nails as well. Then cure for 90-120 seconds using a UV lamp or 60 seconds using a LED lamp.
  • Repeat the step above to apply a second color coat.

Apply the top coat

  • Apply the top coat and cure nails for 90-120 seconds with a UV lamp and 60 seconds with a LED lamp.

Nail Care

  • Apply cuticle oil to the cuticles to keep them nourished and hydrated.

Buff off the top coat

Gently buff the surface of the nails to remove the shine of the top coat. It is best to use the coarse and grainy side of your nail file as the surface must be opened up to allow the remover to penetrate, but be careful not to damage the nail.

Soak off the gel polish

Soak a cotton pad with acetone remover and place onto the nails, wrap your fingertips tightly with a foil wrap and leave to soak for 10 minutes

After 10 minutes, firmly pull pads off the nails.

Push off the gel polish

When the gel polish comes off, it can easily be removed. Gently push away any loose gel polish with cuticle pusher

Gently buff the nail to a shine.

Nail Care

Clean the nails with nail wipe and apply cuticle oil to keep your nail plates healthy.

Gel polish may become thicker in low temperatures. Gently rolling the bottle between hands or placing it (tightly sealed) in warm water for a minute can help thin the gel consistency due to the heat.

It will depend on the colors and the desired coverage. Some colors will require 2 coats, while others may need 3. Just remember that each layer should be thin and even.

Curing times vary per the lamp type and brand. We recommend to cure with a LED lamp for at least 60 seconds and for 2 minutes with a UV lamp.

Don’t worry, it’s probably either because of inadequate curing time or overly thick layer of gel polish. Curing times vary per lamps, generally we recommend a curing time of 30-60s with a LED lamp or 2 minutes with a UV lamp, and it’s important to always apply a thin coat to avoid insufficient curing. Additionally, make sure the lamp works properly.

Don’t worry - they are supposed to be tacky in order to adhere each layers together. Wiping with a cleanser after the final coat will remove the residual tackiness.

It’s because:

  • Inadequate nail preparation - Do buff the nails thoroughly to remove any unevenness. Make sure the nails are dry, clean, and free from oils and dust before applying the base coat (apply bonder/dehydrator can help).
  • Gel polish applied is too thick - the thickness prevents the UV light from curing the gel polish at the lower layer, resulting in wrinkles and bubbles forming.
  • Inefficient lamp – aged lamp may not be able to cure the gel polish
    properly.

This is normal as gel polish are supposed to remain slightly tacky after curing, which allows each layer to bond together, and the color pigment is a part of this tacky layer. This tends to happen more with darker colors, but it will not remove all the polish from your nails when you wipe it.

Gel nails can last for two to three weeks when applied properly.
